Kids Who Care Recognition

The inaugural Kids Who Care event recognized and applauded eleven young individuals nominated by community members for outstanding charitable commitment to the Ashland County Community.

With more than 125 in attendance, Dave Kowalka served as Master of Ceremonies. Following Dr. Lucille G. Ford's opening remarks, all 11 nominees were introduced. Presentation of certificates and tree seedlings, as well as recognition of top achievers was made. Grades 1-6 first place award of $100.00 went to Evan Campbell; runners-up were Lincoln Third Graders Jordan Espinoza, Jessica Eicher and Kylie Chance who received $50.00. Two first place awards at $75.00 each were made to Paige Dreibelbis and Kimberly Keene in the Grades 9-12 category. These students will designate the charities to receive their dollars.

Grades 1-6:

Evan Campbell, a first grader at McMullen Elementary School , received a Kids Who Care award for “Evan's World,” a monthly show he performs for residents at Colonial Manor Health Care Center.

Lincoln Elementary third grade students Jordan Espinoza, Jessica Eicher, and Kylie Chance were runners-up for their implementation of a Lincoln Elementary School recycling program.

Cassie Schuster, a fifth grader, was recognized for organizing a book donation drive at Montgomery Elementary School to provide books to less fortunate students in Niger, Africa.

Grades 9-12

Chris Bartish, a twelfth grader at Dale-Roy, was recognized for his volunteer work at the Ashland Public Library.
