Kids Who Care Recognition
The inaugural Kids Who
Care event recognized and applauded eleven young individuals nominated
by community members for outstanding charitable commitment to
the Ashland County Community.
With more than 125 in attendance,
Dave Kowalka served as Master of Ceremonies. Following Dr. Lucille
G. Ford's opening remarks, all 11 nominees were introduced. Presentation
of certificates and tree seedlings, as well as recognition of
top achievers was made. Grades 1-6 first place award of $100.00
went to Evan Campbell; runners-up were Lincoln Third Graders Jordan
Espinoza, Jessica Eicher and Kylie Chance who received $50.00.
Two first place awards at $75.00 each were made to Paige Dreibelbis
and Kimberly Keene in the Grades 9-12 category. These students
will designate the charities to receive their dollars.
Grades 1-6:
Evan Campbell, a first
grader at McMullen Elementary School , received a Kids Who Care
award for “Evan's World,” a monthly show he performs for residents
at Colonial Manor Health Care Center.
Lincoln Elementary third
grade students Jordan Espinoza, Jessica Eicher, and Kylie Chance
were runners-up for their implementation of a Lincoln Elementary
School recycling program.
Cassie Schuster, a fifth
grader, was recognized for organizing a book donation drive at
Montgomery Elementary School to provide books to less fortunate
students in Niger, Africa.
Grades 9-12
Chris Bartish, a twelfth
grader at Dale-Roy, was recognized for his volunteer work at the
Ashland Public Library.
Terry Bright, a junior
at Mapleton High School , was recognized for his 300+ hours of
volunteerism in role modeling and assisting with D.A.R.E. classes
and serving as scorekeeper for Middle School Volleyball.
Paige Dreibelbis, an Ashland
High School freshman, received a Kids Who Care award for her leadership
and participation with the Ashland County STAND Team.
Kimberly Keene, a tenth
grader, received a Kids Who Care award for her leadership in the
Salvation Army's “Learning Zone” after school program.
Jacob Oberholtzer, an Ashland
High School junior, was recognized for his development and teaching
of a Youth Indoor Flag Football League at the YMCA.
Danielle Rueger, a junior
at Ashland High School, was recognized for her volunteer work
with younger children at the Ashland Public Library.
ACCF is truly excited to
share with the Ashland Community the generous and giving hearts
of these young individuals. Do think ahead to next year—we'd love
for you to nominate a special student as one of our “Kids Who
Care.”
