Scholarship Funds
Many scholarship funds have been established at the Ashland County Community Foundation. After a scholarship has been established, the fund continues to grow through additional contributions from the original donors, through other contributions, and through market growth.
Companies, organizations, families, and individuals can all establish scholarship funds. They often memorialize a loved one or honor a special person. The donor can define the scholarship's selection committee and guidelines for candidate selection, requirements, and award use.
Distribution Guidelines
- Requirements Needed to Receive the Scholarship
These can include such things as attendance at a specific university, attainment of a minimum grade point average (GPA), declaration of a particular intended field of study, or involvement in a specific extracurricular activity.
- Criteria to be Used for the Selection Committee's Decision
This can include academic merit, leadership, character, financial need, and a demonstrated or potential talent.
- Term of the Scholarship
This can include whether or not the scholarship is renewable and the requirements that must be fulfilled to maintain or renew the scholarship; for example, GPA, full-time status, part-time status.
